This small format oil painting continues to use the cherry as a metaphor for themes of seduction and allure. Here the mood is less playful and more confrontational. It was important to me to avoid the stereotypical formula for female portraiture where the subject is idealized and beautified. Instead I wanted the viewer's gaze to be returned and questioned.
